Children at Newdale Primary School in Telford are looking to secure the art of handwriting by inking their pen designs for the future.
Mitsubishi Pencil Co., owners of the uni-ball brand, have invited children at the Marlborough Way Primary School to create a pen for the future to celebrate its global 30th anniversary and highlight the importance of good literacy skills.
For taking part in the competition, the school will receive a stationery pack to showcase the smooth and dependable writing instruments that make up the uni-ball portfolio. The pupil's designs will be judged against other entries from schools across the Midlands.
A family trip to Cadbury World, a bumper Back to School stationery pack and a certificate to proudly display on a bedroom wall, will be awarded to the winning entries that will be picked from three different age categories (under 6, 6-8 and 9-11).
Marketing Manager at Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Stuart Barker said: "We would like to thank the pupils at Newdale Primary School for taking part.
"We wanted to give pupils the chance to celebrate the art of handwriting by designing a pen that they would like to use in 30 years time. We will also be judging the clarity of their handwriting by asking them to describe, in no more than 100 words, its key features and benefits.
"We will choose the winning designs after the closing date of 15 May 2009 and may we wish all those taking part the very best of luck."
